FAQ

Common questions

What is a good resume match score?

Aim for 60% or above. A score of 60–79% gives you a solid foundation; 80% or higher significantly improves your chances of passing automated ATS screening. Below 40% usually means the resume needs meaningful keyword additions before applying.

How is the match score calculated?

The checker compares meaningful keywords — skills, tools, job titles, and domain terms — between your resume and the job description. Common words are filtered out. The score is the percentage of significant JD keywords that also appear in your resume.

Does this replace a full ATS resume checker?

No — this tool focuses on keyword overlap only. A full ATS check also analyses formatting, section structure, file compatibility, and layout issues. WowThisCV's ATS Resume Checker covers all of these alongside keyword analysis.
